Philosophy
The greatest difference between public education
and Christian education is in their philosophy. Philosophy in simplified terms may be defined as that which one believes. It is the basic foundation of all
education. All life's values come from absolute or
relative presuppositions. You cannot educate without these. Christian education is built upon absolute
presuppositions beginning with, "In the beginning God
created," and "Thus saith the Lord." How can a child be
educated unless he is told "Where he came from," "Why he
is here," and "Where he is going?" The philosophy of Christian
education builds values of character, responsibility, and knowledge
of right and wrong. The student's educational training is built
upon the solid foundation of divine absolutes. The objective in
Christian education is to obey the Scriptural imperatives of
Deuteronomy 6:5-7:"... love the LORD thy God with all thine heart,
and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words,
which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou
shalt teach them diligently unto thy children..."
Teaching is training. Training for LIFE must include training for ETERNITY!
Purpose
BASIC CHRISTIAN EDUCATION is a conservative Christian outreach to homeschool families and Christian schools. BASIC CHRISTIAN EDUCATION was founded in 1982 by Abe Schwartz to promote Christian education. Upon Abe's retirement in July of 2007 Basic Christian Education was relocated to Greenville, Ohio and restructured under the direction of Jim Leonard, a long time friend and fellow laborer with Abe. Basic Christian Education remains dedicated and committed to the Biblical principles upon which the organization was founded. BCE's goal is to provide a Christian educational program which helps today's students to learn to see all life from God's point of view and be trained in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6), building upon Biblical values and divine absolutes to enable them to evaluate the present and make wise decisions for the future. An education in which Jesus Christ is central will influence the whole course of your child's life. Recognizing the public sector was not providing for the spiritual needs of children we searched the various alternatives. The result of the search and careful analyses of curriculum is what you see presented on this site. Now in its 28th year of service BCE serves Christian schools and homeschool families nationally and internationally.
The curriculum is designed for parents and educators who recognize that their children are a gift from God. Therefore, it is their God-given responsibility to educate their children with a program that meets their educational, social, and spiritual needs.
The curriculum is an individualized, Bible-based curriculum for
elementary and secondary levels (K-12) and was developed on the
premise that every child is uniquely created by God with distinct
abilities and for a definite purpose. This curriculum is designed
to assist in determining the level where the child is capable of
performing, permit him to learn at his own speed, and provide for
the development of his self-image by training in self-motivation,
creativity, and individual initiative for achievement.
Statement of Belief
- We believe in one triune God, the creator of
all things, eternal, infinite, perfect, and manifested in three
persons as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
(Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Matt. 28:19) - We believe that the Genesis account of the
six-day creation week is a historic fact and literally true.
(Genesis 1:1; John 1:3; Hebrews 1:10) - We believe in the plenary and verbal
inspiration of the Bible as the Word of God; inerrant
and the only infallible rule of faith and practice.
(II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:21) - We believe in the deity and personality of the
Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity.
(John 16:7, 13) - We believe Jesus Christ was God manifested in
the flesh, true God and true man, conceived by the Holy Ghost and
born of a virgin.
(Matthew 1:23; Isaiah 7:14; 1 Timothy 3:16) - We believe in the sinless life of JESUS, His
miraculous ministry, His vicarious death on the cross as atonement
for our sins, His bodily resurrection from the dead, and His
ascension into heaven to serve as our intercessor before the
Father.
(John 1:14; Hebrews 7:25,26) - We believe in salvation only through the blood
of JESUS. Man was created good but by voluntary transgression fell,
and his ONLY hope of redemption is by accepting Jesus Christ as his
personal Saviour.
(Romans 3:23; John 3:16; 1 John 1:9) - We believe that sanctification is the
progressive work of grace in the heart of the believer by the Holy
Spirit.
(John 17:17, 19; I Thessalonians 5:23) - We believe in the personal, imminent coming of
our Lord as the blessed hope of the believer.
(Acts 1:11; I Thessalonians 4:16) - We believe in the bodily resurrection of all
men, both the just and the unjust; of the just to eternal life and
the unjust to condemnation.
(Acts 24:15; John 5:28-29)
